Summer Camp at Friends School of Atlanta

By Friends School of Atlanta May 16, 2018

Decatur-based Friends School of Atlanta (FSA) is excited to once again present a wide array of full-day, STEAM-based summer camp sessions for students in rising grades Kindergarten through 10th grade! Now in their ninth year, FSA’s summer camps have grown in popularity around the Atlanta Metro area as we have continuously expanded the opportunities for fun, high-quality educational experiences. This year there will be camps in the arts, digital arts, math, making/tinkering, critters and storytelling, among other topics! Try a new one every week!

Just as last year…all camps are just $275 per week. Other highlights include:

  • FREE before care 8:30–9am
  • Prepaid aftercare 3–6pm
  • Sibling discounts: the first pays full price; all others receive a 10% discount. (Does not apply to aftercare.)

Online registration is now open! Reserve your spots today, as spaces are limited and fill very quickly. For more detailed information including discounts, click here for our Summer Camp webpage.

Just bring a packed snack and lunch; we’ll have all the fun already packaged for you!

Here is a sneak peak at just some of our new offerings this summer…

Creative Writers for Girls, (rising grades 5–8) will encourage you to develop and find your own voice via the introduction of various forms and genres of writing such as short storymaking, poetry, spoken word and nonfiction. You will learn the basics of a story, plus how to create engaging characters who portray such compelling stories. One of the many unique experiences will be to hear firsthand from a visiting professional local writer who will talk about their approaches to writing as an art form and share valuable writing tips. As a writer memory from this hands-on writers camp, you’ll also take home a small anthology collection of participant pieces, which will hopefully ignite your creative growth as an independent confident writer!

Drone Zone (ages 6–15)—taught by Kenny Rochester, FSA Robotics and Middle School Math teacher—will immerse campers with all skill levels into the amazing world of STEAM (Science, Technology Engineering, Arts and Math). You’ll learn the many aspects of drone building and will have opportunities to fly drones within in a fun, safe and educational environment. Each camper will design, build and fly a drone by working in pairs, sharing your experience together. You will also get an opportunity to create a challenging obstacle course to fly your drones in a safe setting. A drone flying exhibition will be held at the end of the week. So whether you are just starting or have prior experience, Drone Zone camp promises a week of fun and exploration!

...and don’t forget Architecture Around the World (ages 10–15), In the Garden Design (ages 10–15), Digital Arts/Intro to Photoshop (ages 6–15) and so much more!
