Golden Birthdays are really a thing! I love celebrating someone's golden birthday because it is truly a unique way to celebrate them to infinity and beyond. Let’s explore the definition, meaning, and ways to celebrate.
What exactly is a Golden Birthday?
A golden birthday is special and very unique. This is a once-in-a-lifetime birthday we're the age you are turning actually matches your day of birth. Example: My birthday is August 12th so my Golden Birthday was my 12th birthday. Some cultures also refer to this as a Grand Birthday, Star Birthday, Lucky Birthday, or Champagne Birthday. Of course, all the jazzy names can be even further embraced. Think of the 21-year-old who was born on the 21st day of the month and her having a Champagne Birthday versus a Golden Birthday. Or think about the 9-year-old who is turning 10 years old on the 10th day of the month and entering double digits for the rest of his life calling that birthday celebration a Grand Golden Birthday.
How do you celebrate a Golden Birthday?
There are many ways to celebrate! There are simple inexpensive ways to celebrate and extravagant ways to celebrate depending on the budget. I recommend Googling the star of the show's favorite food and/or restaurants and starting there. No birthday restaurant celebration is complete without the birthday dessert and a well-lit candle. Feel free to sing, remember it is their birthday and singing is a must. Then from there, you can go to the movies or to your backyard with friends or anywhere your heart desires. Just promise to get creative. Imaginative creations are the best creations.
Who created the Golden Birthday?
There is much debate about this and trust me I really did my research and came up with three different stories consistently. One thing which was consistent across everywhere was that it was created during the 1950s and people loved it and began carrying it from there.
What if you missed your Golden Birthday?
No worries. There has become such a thing as a Double Golden Birthday and even a Triple Golden Birthday.
A Double Golden Birthday refers to the year when you turn double your birth date. For Example, you turned 18 on the 9th of May.
A Triple Golden Birthday is the same as a Double Golden Birthday except with this one you turn three times your birthdate. For Example, you turned 15 on the 5th day of August.
All in all, there is plenty to celebrate so happily celebrate the Golden Birthdays in your circle to infinity and beyond. Make it a new family tradition and take plenty of photos to mark the occasion.
