East Atlanta Strut is a big, celebrated deal. It is a vibe and energy that you definitely want to experience, and it is loaded with family fun! You know how I am always saying go find your family fun? Well, this is it. I am recommending the East Atlanta Strut to each and every one of you whether you are a parent, a grandparent, an aunt or uncle, or just a person who wants to celebrate East Atlanta.
The Strut began in 1998 as a small parade through the East Atlanta business district. It was created to promote the neighborhood and raise funds for a neighborhood nonprofit. The East Atlanta Strut has evolved into a Parade and Porchfest. You know how metro Atlanta loves its Porchfest! This annual festival has grown and even bloomed into more than we could have ever imagined. Think a thriving business district, a neighborhood park, and our East Atlanta neighbors, who offer their driveways, yards, and porches for bands, aerial artists, vendors, games, and crazy adorable contests that you can only find here in East Atlanta.
The parade kicks off at noon with a day of full entertainment until at least 6 p.m. The entertainment ranges from kids in strollers to Queens in truck beds. Then the fun spreads to multiple neighborhood hot spots. It is truly an event like no other. Between promoting the neighborhood and giving back to local nonprofits it is a vibe that cannot be duplicated, and it gets better every year. So, imagine what the 25th anniversary will be like.
East Atlanta is an in-town neighborhood filled with love of the community, street art, and local characters. The very laid-back neighborhood is a walkable pocket of the community within the city limits of Atlanta. It boasts a small-town feel with all the benefits of a major city like Atlanta. Thanks to our award-winning Atlanta Public Schools and nationally known restaurants, bars, and music venues, East Atlanta’s appeal spans multiple demographics which make it the most diversified neighborhood in metro Atlanta with an awesome sense of pride and community spirit. Affectionately known as EAV you may recognize landscapes used in many Hollywood movies and shows.
