Atlanta's Kirkwood neighborhood is set to welcome Georgia's very first Skiptown, marking a significant development for pets and their owners. Having toured the 39,200-square-foot facility in Atlanta's Kirkwood, I can attest to its impressiveness. With a variety of choices including an outdoor social yard, indoor spaces, indoor off-leash areas, and a splash pad, it truly is an indoor and outdoor haven and oasis for all fur babies their pa"RENTS".
“We always knew that we wanted to open a Skiptown in Atlanta,” said Skiptown Founder and CEO Meggie Williams. “We love the city, and we really felt like Skiptown would resonate with the community here. Our team visited a lot, and we put a great deal of effort into getting the location right. When we came across Kirkwood, we immediately fell in love with the neighborhood. We toured over 60 sites, and this location instantly drew us in. It's an amazing, vibrant, diverse little pocket of such an incredible city, and we're excited to become a part of it.”
Meggie is dedicated to purposeful living and the art of repurposing. Skiptown, nestled in a repurposed warehouse, provides the perfect indoor and outdoor setting for dogs and their owners. In renovating the space, the Skiptown team prioritized maintaining the building's original character by preserving many of its murals. They also minimized their environmental impact by thoughtfully restoring the surrounding landscape and planting twenty-one trees. Williams established Skiptown to cater to the unique needs of busy pet owners and those living in small spaces such as apartments, tiny houses, or townhouses. Drawing on her extensive experience in dog care, she recognized and addressed the concerns of pet owners, offering a definitive solution for canine well-being and room for growth.
